Betsy DeVos, the wife of Dick DeVos, is a reformer. She was involved in college politics at the Calvin College. She has since been active in politics. She led different campaigns, political action committees, and party organizations. The young Elisabeth Prince was for six years the chairperson of the Michigan Republican Party. Betsy and her husband founded a family foundation that seeks to bring innovative solutions to problems in the community such as education. She is Windquest Group’s chairperson, a multi-company whose primary objective is to invest in technology, clean energy, and manufacturing. Betsy established the company in 1989 together with Dick DeVos. Mrs. DeVos achieves her aim of reforms through nonprofit roles such as being the chairperson of the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation. She is also a leading advocate for educational choice movement.

 

The biography of Dick DeVos

In his business career, Dick has served in several executive positions at the Windquest Group, Amway, and NBA’s Orlando Magic. He is the current president of Windquest Group. Dick was the president of Amway between 1993 and 2002 where he took roles in all aspects of the operations of the company in six continents and 50 countries. Amway recorded sales amounting to $4.5 billion during his final fiscal year in the company. Dick was working as the vice president of Amway International before being promoted to be the president. He was overseeing the operations of the company in 18 countries outside North America during his tenure as the company’s vice president. The company ventured into new markets and tripled international sales during his leadership, which was the first time in its history to exceed domestic sales. Dick’s family acquired Orland Magic in 1991, and he became the chief executive officer. He held the position for three years.

 

Besides holding business roles, Dick has led an array of community initiatives. Dick DeVos initiated the Education Freedom Fund that gave over 4000 scholarships to children in Michigan. The fund targeted underprivileged children. He has also worked on the State Board of Education and at the West Michigan Aviation Academy, which is a high school whose goal is to offer an educational program via an aviation focus.

 

Dick DeVos has also chaired and co-chaired various Grand Rapids downtown revival and enhancements in the healthcare sector in the region. He has given $130 million to heart hospital and $212 million to the convention center. DeVos was appointed in 2017 to the management advisory council of the Federal Aviation by the US.
